(AP) — New leaders at a Wyoming tribe’s gambling enterprise say their goal is to return the greatest amount of money possible to the tribe. The Casper Star-Tribune reports that the new leadership team from the Northern Arapaho Tribe announced several changes during a tribal citizens meeting last week. A number of hotels, casinos, and venues in Deadwood will begin re-opening Thursday, May 7, at 8:00 a.m., according to a release from the city’s Office of Transportation and Facilities.

Deadwood’s Ordinance 1312 seeks to “protect the continued operation of the free market consistent with the recommendations of the CDC hygiene practices” and encourages the city’s private sector to “understand that COVID-19 will impact their communities for potentially the next four months or more.”

The ordinance provides guidelines for employee health screenings, posted signage addressing personal hygiene practices, and encourages, but does not require, staff and patrons to wear masks “whenever possible.” The ordinance also states that personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks and gloves “should be provided to customers upon request.”

The Deadwood Gaming Association has released Modified Table Game Operations, which require licensed gaming operators to provide PPE and hand sanitizer to staff and members of the public upon request, and requires employees to be trained in a CDC-approved enhanced cleaning plan for sanitization of all contact surfaces, including chips and tokens.

The recently adopted ordinances associated with the Covid-19 pandemic allow for the City to adjust reopening measures based on data provided
by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), South Dakota Department of Health, the local health care community and South Dakota Governor’s Executive Orders pertaining to Covid-19.
