KAMLOOPS — As the strike of Cascades Casino employees enters a second day, employer Gateway Casinos is reminding the public they are still open for business.

In an open letter to customers Gateway said the Kamloops Casino would remain open during the labour disruption with a few changes.

Table games, the Match Eatery, and Atlas Steak + Fish will remain closed.

Lottery payouts will be capped at $500, suspending the casino’s designation as a regional prize payout centre until the strike ends.

Cascades Chatham Casino to Feature New, Exciting Dining and Entertainment Options

March 28, 2018, Chatham, ON – Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited (“Gateway”) announced today it expects to invest $36 million into a new Cascades casino at 615 Richmond Street and create up to 200 new jobs in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, subject to necessary approvals and completion of the land acquisition. The proposed new casino would feature over 300 slots and 10 table games, and feature Gateway’s signature restaurant brands MATCH Eatery & Public House and The Buffet. It is planned that the new casino will open mid-2019.

Central to Gateway’s success has been the development of proprietary casino and restaurant brands. The Cascades brand is built around the design inspiration of “Play”. The new property would be a local entertainment destination that will truly redefine entertainment with an array of dining and entertainment options to suit any taste. The proposed new casino in Chatham is expected to begin construction this spring, subject to required approvals and completion of the land acquisition. While the construction of the new casino is underway, Gateway Casinos Dresden will continue to operate, business as usual, and will close after Cascades Casino Chatham is opened.
